I have never really followed trends while dressing up. So this title of the post is  very unlike of me. But when I recently saw the pic of a renowned Bollywood celebrity wearing a frilled border Ruffle Saree all my brain said was "I want this NOW". Luckily on my recent trip to India saw a similar one on the page of an online seller and grabbed it as soon as I could. Before even thinking should I buy it, the saree was delivered to my home. Thus here I am posting the "trendiest" saree of the season Ruffle Saree. When we decided Little K's 1st birthday party theme (yes he just turned ONE!!) to be Little Krishna, I knew I had to wear a saree and grabbed this one as it was light weight, comfortable, stylish and a statement itself.

From the previous posts you might have known that how I love bright neon colors, thus I had to order this brightest one available from the lot. Here I am wearing that blinding tomato red frilled saree. The saree came with this matching net blouse and a liner fabric. I designed the net to be clear of any lining at the back and have a clear net neckline too. My tailor obliged and I love how its looking.

As for completing the whole look, I paired it with a 5 jhumki peacock earring that I specially bought for K's Krishna themed Birthday Party. Chose not to overshadow the saree with much accessory so teamed up kundan kada and kept the makeup heavy to match up the plain saree and the occasion. 

So if you up for some new saree style without emptying your wallet, this saree is for you. Its available is several colors and is a must try for parties where you want to wear something light. So after you have scrolled through zillions photos of mine😬(hope you didnt get bored) lets also have look at the birthday boy and Sr. K.

No matter how long the winter is... spring is sure to follow.... 

And its knocking on our doors already, the season of love,  color and sunshine.  After the dry and dull winter months, spring comes and spreads riot of colors in nature and in our mind. It is rightly said that Spring is the nature's way to say let's party. Indians throughout the world welcomes spring with the colorful Holi or Dol jatra festival. Holi means shops sprawled out on the streets with vibrant gift hampers, colors, water balloons and, of course, those fancy water guns. You could smell the aromatic gulaals everywhere!So we introduce our this years' second spring look by wishing every one of you a safe and Happy Holi. Look of the day

As spring symbolizes color and life,  we have chosen a  vibrant neon green Khaddi saree. It looks as fresh as nature and with the bright "Abir"(gulal) pink woven border. The saree woven in a rich banarasi pattern, is suited for any kind of spring celebrations, both night and day. In addition to that the saree is light in weight and very season appropriate. I bought the saree from my last visit to Kolkata, the fresh and bright color combination and the floral border caught my eyes. So made sure to keep shoulder pleats wider to highlight on the saree border. Draping of a saree makes a whole lot of difference on how it is presented. 

I have paired the saree with a vibrant makeup as well, fuschia pink lipstick and highlighted eyes. Kept the hair simple loose. The golden batua bag and gold and emerald stone studded jewellery matches perfectly with the gorgeous saree. You can always tone down or up the look by opting for heavier jewelry or lighter makeup, depending on your comfort level and the occasion.

Tips for Your Spring Fashion

• Spring is the season of "growth", thus season of bright colors. But it doesn't mean you'll always have to wear them or you'll be comfortable carrying them. If you want to wear dark or muted colors, do can a pop of brightness in your accessories like makeup (a bright lip or eye-shadow) or, bag  to balance things out.

• Try out different spring prints. Floral is the most popular spring print,and a floral printed, woven or embroidered saree looks so apt this season.You can try mixing things up by wearing a contrasting print or solid colors with it.

• Avoid thick fabrics and try breathable fabrics to feel your best.

After a sure-shot Shaptami (here) and Ashtami (here) style plan which we told you, make sure you are ready to make onlookers astounded with your final Navami evening look. According to mythological stories, Goddess Durga’s battle against Mahishasur, the king of demons lasted for nine days. The ninth day is the final day before the Goddess won over the evil with her power and wisdom. This is the last night before we send off Ma Durga to Kailash after celebrating her victory over evil, and wait again for the next year. So its the last opportunity to absorb all the fun and frolic and loose ourselves in the festive spirit for the year. Thus the fanfare certainly gets intense during Navami and this post today is all about this dazzling Navami look.

If you have read our style stories on the Shaptami  or Ashtami looks earlier, you have noticed that the festive fashion tone started with a chic grey for Shaptami and transitioned to an elegant red and white for Ashtami . But for Navami, the attire and the attitude will indeed be more flamboyant. If there are more than one days to a festival, why would you get stuck with one style? So on Navami, have put on a half and half bright orange and electric blue saree.

 The saree has a georgette fluorescent orange upper portion, with gold and hot pink geometric pattern around the hem and pallu.

The other half is electric blue net with intricate, wide gold embroidered border, almost as in Manipuri Raslila skirts (the elaborate skirts worn by Manipuri brides ). This  saree came with a  fancy blue full sleeved blouse which I decided to ditch owing to the sweaty weather. Chose this stylish sleeveless blue silk blouse that rounded out the look so well. With my hair in a small bun adorned and covered with an oversize flower, I finished out the look with a pair of dazzling long earrings. Kept my other jewelries minimum and added a bright orange lip to keep the look simple yet gorgeous for the special eve.

Considering my last two Durga Puja appearances in ethnic sarees, this sighting in a flamboyant designer saree made for a refreshing change for its modern style. Every woman should at least have one georgette designer saree for fancy outings, where you want to drape the saree quick and can deviate from the traditional ঘরোয়া (homely) saree look. Being able to wear this stunning saree was exhilarating as it had been lying in my closet for sometime now. The contemporary design of this saree, made by a very dear designer friend Kunaal Basaak is a treat to my personal style senses. It is visually stimulating, bright and eye-catching than one can imagine! It brightens up the ambiance for the final night of the puja fanfare.
