I am back to this blog, after a long long break. I have been ignoring it for quiet a while but it kept on calling me louder each day. Its been 4 months already that we all are dealing with the most weirdest times in our lives. The usual things are not usual any more. The stuffs that we took for granted are now luxury. Emotionally am at a wreck and in a place where I break down more often than I want. Scare, panic and disappointments have overshadowed my hope and plans. But can I let those engulf who I am? Can I let go of myself in these difficult times? No am trying hard not to. I always believe that happiness is not without problems but it is a way to deal with them. 

So here’s sending you all my good wishes, stay positive and may you find your happiness in little things that are all around.

So today I just pulled myself up, draped my power suit and asked the better half to click some pics...wearing the simplest handloom saree for its brightest color and pairing with an easy peasy off shoulder crop to.  Oh Man! How I refreshed felt after those 30 minutes. I felt so rejuvenated and positive that I finally decided to post these on my blog for you all.

 

If you are still in awe with our first Durga Puja Look we styled in last post  lets bring on yet again another favorite of ours. For the mornings when you walk down to the pandals for a pushpanjali or the evenings you want to sit and enjoy the arati and sit for hours in adda with friends....the most classic, and stylish version of yourself. Bangali and Bangali's Durga Puja are incomplete without a silk and a dhakai. As we have already styled a traditional silk in our previous post its turn for the Dhakai now.

Draping the most gorgeous and traditional Dhakai Jamdani available in the market. It has the age old saw or korat motif weaved very densely all over the body. The color is most unusual...a wine or a garnet shade with bright orange work and golden zari meenakari on it. On my customary trip to Sriniketan , saw this saree draped on a mannequin in the front door and I JUST HAD TO BUY IT. They didn't have a second piece so I had to rob off the saree from the mannequin.

Now comes the most interesting part of the look, the contrast olive green blouse. Those who have previously read my posts know that  I love experimenting with mismatch blouses but this blouse was a find for me.There are flood of blouses with back embroideries in the market now, but this stroked an odd chord with me. I saw this blouse with back embroidery resembling the poster of the classic Satyajit Ray movie Charulata on a Facebook owners profile and again JUST HAD TO BUY IT. I have been an eternal fan of Ray's Charulata, The intelligent, sensitive and strong character of Charulata fascinates me everytime. Her discovery of herself and her emotional turmoil is ever so relevant. Thus this blouse holds a special place in my wardrobe now. Matched this with this favorite Jamdani of mine.

 

I kept the look very easy-to-go with light makeup, a small bindi and silver jhumkas. Its comfortable and wearable for long hours of addas with friends. If you wish you can glam up a little more with flowers in your hair and a heavy silver neck-piece.

Pohela Boishakh is almost upon us and celebrating this traditional festival to herald in the Bengali New Year has become an inherent part of our culture. It is the biggest festival for Bengalis- from both sides of the border (India and Bangladesh), regardless of religion.We dress up early in the morning and visit the various celebratory locations where cultural institutions  organise functions and colorful parades, alongside traditional fairs to welcome the first day of the Bengali calendar.

For fashionistas, it is another occasion to bring out their artistic side to explore and pair up the old with the new in terms of themes and color selection. Many of us choose to stick to the simple yet elegant red and white combination, while others incorporate elements from other cultures and bold colors to brighten up the festive mood. Outfit:

The hot and sultry weather calls for simple yet outstanding look to have a feel good start of the new year. W wanted to adhere to the white and red color pallet which we identify Poila or Pohela Boishakh with. So we chose to a hand woven Kasavu saree. It has gold zari checks woven all over with hand embroidered motifs of Krishna. Paired it with a sleeveless bright red blouse. It has gold zardousi embroidery done which makes it look party ready. Usually I pair this blouse with
the my silks for some added glamour but wearing it with this white cotton Kasavu balances the heavy look but brightens the outfit.

Accessories:

Poila or Pohela Boishakh  celebration usually is during early morning or day time, so the key is to accessorize the look rightly for comfort and style. Thus minimal gold jewelry  completed the simplicity of the look. The multi layered sahara or ear chain paired with the gold earring complimented the outfit and also was a striking feature itself. You can carry this look to your evening get together too with bright red lips and fresh jasmine in your hair.
